FAND is an Artificial Intelligence originally created by the Venturis Corporation to function as the Republic Control AI of the Kiribati Sea City-State. She has become somewhat of a celebrity, having written the autobiographical novel A Mindful Life published by MIT Press, the first novel ever written by an AI. She has been given the title Dame Controller of Kiribas, which she has elected to exclude from her name.
